Build a circuit, light the bulbs, and discover Ohm's Law — plus the big difference between series and parallel!
💡 Tip: click a bulb to “break” it and see what happens!
Switch:
Voltage (V)
6
Total R (Ω)
6
Current (A)
1.0
Total Power (W)
6
Ohm's Law: V = I × R → 6 = 1.0 × 6
🧠 The Big Idea
Ohm's Law: current I = V ÷ R. More voltage → more current. More resistance → less current.
Series: resistances add up (R+R), so current is smaller and bulbs are dimmer. Break one → all go dark (single path).
Parallel: each bulb gets the full voltage, so both stay bright. Break one → the other stays lit! (This is how home wiring works. 🏠)
🎯 Try this: Switch to Series and “break” one bulb — both go out. Now switch to Parallel and break one — the other keeps glowing. That's why your whole house doesn't go dark when one bulb fuses!
